Privacy Policy - Stride Steps & Weight Loss
Stride Steps & Weight Loss ("Stride", "the app") is built by Richardson Dackam, an individual developer in Toronto, Canada. Contact: richardsondx@gmail.com.
Short version
Your data stays on your phone. The app has no account, no server, and no analytics. The only network traffic in the current version is the paywall screen loading its configuration and Apple processing your subscription purchase.
What the app stores
Everything the app records lives in on-device storage on your iPhone and nowhere else:
- Your onboarding answers: height, age, sex, starting weight, goal weight, weight-loss pace, baseline steps, and your computed daily step goal.
- Daily step counts and goal progress.
- Weigh-in entries, moving averages, milestones, and predictions.
- Tracked walks: GPS route points, distance, duration, and step estimates.
None of this leaves your device. There is no sign-in, no cloud sync, and no data sale or sharing of any kind. Deleting the app deletes all of it.
Step counting
Stride counts steps with your iPhone's built-in pedometer (motion activity permission). Step data is processed on the device to show progress toward your daily goal. It is not transmitted anywhere.
Apple Health
If you allow it during onboarding, Stride reads your step history from Apple Health to set your starting daily average. This read happens on your device, and your health data is never sent to us or any third party.
Location
Stride uses your location only while you are actively tracking a walk, to draw your route and measure distance and pace. Your routes are stored on your device only and are never uploaded or shared.
Notifications
If you enable them, the app sends local reminders on your device (for example, a weigh-in reminder). No push token is registered with any server, because we run none.
Purchases
Subscriptions are sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system and billed by Apple, which handles your payment information under Apple's own privacy policy. The paywall screen is rendered with the Superwall SDK, which loads its paywall configuration from Superwall's servers. We do not receive or store your payment details.
Children
Stride is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes
If the app ever starts syncing data to a server or adding analytics, this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the new policy will be linked in the app.
